Getting started
What is Market Hive SA?
Market Hive SA is an online directory connecting South African local markets, vendors and suppliers in one place. Visitors can discover markets near them, browse vendor stalls, find wholesale suppliers and see upcoming market events.
Does it cost anything to browse?
No. Browsing markets, vendors, suppliers and events is completely free. You only pay if you choose a paid membership plan to list and promote your own business.
Do I need an account to use the site?
You can browse everything without an account. You need a free account to RSVP to events, leave a review and save listings. To get the full benefit of the site, subscribing to a paid account is required.
Listing your business
How do I list my market, vendor stall or supplier business?
Register for an account, then use the "Join The Hive" option in your dashboard. Choose the listing type (market, vendor or supplier), add your details, logo and photos, and submit. New listings are reviewed before going live.
Why is my listing showing as pending?
Every new listing is checked by our team before it appears publicly, to keep the directory accurate and spam free. Once approved it goes live automatically and you will see the status change in your dashboard.
Can one account manage more than one listing?
Yes. A single account can own and manage multiple markets, vendors or suppliers. You only ever see and edit your own listings in your dashboard.
How do vendors link to the markets they attend?
From your vendor dashboard you can request to join a market. The market organiser approves the link, after which your stall appears on that market page and the market shows in your profile.
Membership and billing
What do paid membership plans include?
Paid plans unlock things like featured placement, more gallery images, priority in search and richer profile details. See the Membership page for the current plans and pricing.
How are payments handled?
Subscriptions are billed securely through PayFast, a South African payment gateway. We never store your card details on our servers.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. You can cancel a recurring subscription at any time from your billing area. Your listing stays active until the end of the paid period.
Advertising
Can I advertise on Market Hive SA?
Yes. Visit the Advertise page to create an ad campaign. You can track impressions, clicks and click-through rate from your advertiser dashboard.
Where will my ad appear?
Ads run in designated zones across the site, such as the homepage and category index pages. Available placements and sizes are shown when you create a campaign.
Events and reviews
How do I RSVP to a market event?
Open the event page and use the RSVP form, and your RSVP is sent straight to the market organiser. They look after their own guest lists, so any confirmation or updates about the event will come to you directly from them.
Can I review a market, vendor or supplier?
Yes. Signed-in users can leave a star rating and review on any listing. Reviews are moderated before they appear to keep feedback genuine.
Privacy and support
How is my personal information protected?
We handle your data in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). You can download or request deletion of your data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
