Terms of Use
The agreement between you and Market Hive SA.
Last updated: 12 August 2026
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 (ECTA) and the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (CPA). Please read them carefully. By using the platform you agree to be bound by them.
1. Who we are
This platform is operated by Market Hive SA (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/637506/07), a private company registered in the Republic of South Africa ("Market Hive SA", "we", "us" or "our"). You can contact us at [email protected].
2. The service
Market Hive SA is a directory and facilitation platform that helps shoppers discover local markets, vendors and suppliers, and helps businesses list and promote themselves. We are not a party to any transaction, arrangement or communication between users, vendors, suppliers, market organisers and shoppers.
3. Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of your information, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. You may browse much of the platform without an account; certain features require a free or paid account. Listings are reviewed before they appear publicly, and we may decline or remove any listing at our discretion.
4. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation
Paid plans are billed through PayFast on the billing cycle you select (monthly or annual). By subscribing you authorise the applicable recurring charge until you cancel. You may cancel at any time from your account; your paid access continues until the end of the current paid period, and we do not provide pro-rata refunds for the unused part of a period unless required by law. Prices are shown in South African Rand (ZAR) and include applicable taxes where stated.
Where the CPA or ECTA gives you a cooling-off or refund right, nothing in these terms limits that right.
5. Listings and user content
You retain ownership of the content you submit (listings, images, reviews and other material). By submitting content you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it on and in connection with the platform. You confirm that you have the right to submit the content and that it does not infringe any third party's rights.
6. Reviews
Reviews must reflect genuine experiences and must not be false, defamatory or misleading. Reviews are moderated and may be edited or removed. We are not responsible for the views expressed by reviewers.
7. Event RSVPs
When you RSVP to an event, your RSVP is sent to the relevant market organiser, who manages their own guest lists and any confirmations. Market Hive SA does not handle bookings, ticketing or reminders, and is not responsible for events, which are run by the organisers.
8. Acceptable use
You may not post unlawful, misleading, offensive or infringing content, attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform, send spam, or use the platform in a way that harms others or breaches South African law. We may remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that breach these terms.
9. Advertising
Advertising is subject to availability and to our content standards. We may decline, pause or remove any advertisement at our discretion. Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of their advertisements.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, and without limiting any rights you have under the CPA, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for the acts, omissions, goods or services of any vendor, supplier, market organiser or other user. We do not warrant that listings are accurate or that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.
11. Privacy
Our handling of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
12. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
