Understand your views and analytics
Your dashboard counts how often your listing is seen. This explains what each number means, which ones matter, and what to do when they are lower than you hoped.
About 6 minutes to read
Before you start
- A published listing
- You are logged in
Step 1: Open your analytics
Click View analytics in the welcome bar at the top of your dashboard, or go to markethivesa.co.za/dashboard/analytics.

You only see your own
Step 2: Total views and unique views
These two sit next to each other and are easy to mix up.
- Total views counts every time your page was opened, including the same person coming back three times.
- Unique views counts separate people. This is the honest measure of reach, and the one to watch.
The gap between them tells you something
Step 3: The other numbers
- Listings - how many listings this account has.
- Reviews - approved reviews left on your listing.
- Market links (vendors) - how many markets your listing is connected to. More connections means more pages your business is discoverable from.
- Leads (suppliers) - enquiries your listing has produced. For a supplier this matters far more than views.
Underneath the tiles is a table with one row per listing, so if you own several you can see which is pulling its weight and which needs work.
Step 4: What is a good number?
There is no universal answer, and anyone who gives you one is guessing. Compare against yourself instead: note your figures today, then look again in a month. The direction is the useful part.
Two comparisons that are genuinely fair:
- your own listing this month against last month
- your listing before and after you changed the photos or the description
A brand new site takes time
Step 5: Views are low. What now?
Work through these in order, because they are listed by how much difference they make.
- Check you are published. A listing still marked pending is not on the public site at all.
- Fix your main photo. It is the single thing that decides whether anyone clicks through from the directory.
- Check your categories and city. Nearly all searching is done by category and location. Wrong ones make you invisible to the people looking for exactly what you do.
- Write specific product words. People search for "sourdough" and "biltong", not "quality products".
- Link to your listing. Put the address on your Facebook page, your Instagram bio and your WhatsApp business profile. Traffic you send yourself counts too.
- Attend markets and get approved. Every market you are linked to is another page people can find you from.
The get more enquiries guide covers the photo and wording work in detail.
